Strange child—
Odd little thing,
Alone in your odd mind—
What is it that you are, exactly?
What should the world do
With a creature like you?
How does the world see you?
As lovely as a girl
As eccentric as a boy,
A melancholic child
Wise beyond their years;
What should I call you,
Girl or Boy?
What has the world done to you?
As hysterical as a young lady
As volatile as a young man,
A sensitive, misunderstood youth
Bitter beyond their years;
How should the world deal
With someone like you?
What should the world do with you?
As dejected as a woman
As rejected as a man,
Such a strange adult
Sick beyond their years;
What should I refer to you,
Sir or ma’am—come this way
Barely Human
With time, strange child—
Odd little Girl-Boy—
Your essence may become more
Obvious to yourself, to the world
But it will never be embraced, for
The world rejects what is between.
